An Informed Choice
We offer permanent, respite and day care services. Court House can currently cater for 30 residents and up to 6 day care clients daily. Our aim is to provide a service that is tailored to the individual. To do this, we take time in assessing someone’s care needs, understanding their likes and dislikes, their personal history, their family relationships, their hobbies and activities amongst a host of other information. This is all part of the initial assessment process and we take this information to form the care plan. We encourage our clients, and potential clients, to be involved in the process of creating their own care plan.
Dignity & Privacy
Our residential care home provides dignity and privacy, assisting residents where appropriate with their personal appearance. We provide with all the activities of daily living. We can also look after residents with decreased mobility using the correct equipment for them. Our staff are skilled at recognised techniques that can be used to aid residents who may have behaviors that challenge.
A Home from Home
We aim to provide a homely atmosphere and we encourage residents and relatives to personalise their loved one’s bedrooms. Our care ethos is to encourage and promote independence but to be available and at hand to support those when help is needed in a secure and safe environment. Our staff promote a feeling of being at home and part of a community, whilst still enabling residents to express themselves by various means that some may class as behaviours that challenge.
Activities & Hobbies
There is always something going on at Court House. Many of our residents have found ways to re-kindle old hobbies, sometimes with the help of care staff or family, others have discovered interests with their new friends at Court House.
Whilst we offer a wide variety of activities on a daily basis, it is, of course entirely up to individual residents which activities they wish to participate in. Our regular activities include fitness sessions, art workshops and music therapy. Court House also brings in entertainments and activities from outside; from regular visits from the Devon Library service, the Donkey Sanctuary, comedians, musicians amongst many others.
Closely Monitored Care
The Manager and her team are very skilled at managing the residents when they are anxious, agitated or distressed and cannot always clearly express their feelings. The team use various recognised methods to support each resident in a manner that suits or works for them. This can include close cohort monitoring, 1-1 monitoring, keeping in line of sight from a distance or just simply giving them a cuddle when they are emotionally upset. We try to continue the routine of your loved ones when they become unwell to decrease the level of stress and anxiety that this may cause for them
